Ahmedabad, Gujarat (India), November 18, 2024: Engineering education in India has long been a
pathway to success, but it has also been criticized for its focus on theory
over practical skills. Given the disconnect between classroom learning and
real-world application, many graduates need help finding their footing in the
job market. That’s where My Equation comes in.
This Ahmedabad-based SkillTech startup was
formed by Ratik Gupta, an engineer who struggled to find work for himself. He
is a young entrepreneur with a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication
Engineering who founded the company with the purpose of bridging the divide
between academic knowledge and industrial demands. “We saw a clear need for
hands-on, practical training that fits well with what the industry actually
needs,” he says. “We work to prepare students with skills they can use from day
one on the job.”
Why Did Ratik Gupta Start My Equation?
The journey to finding My Equation began in
2022 when Ratik and his team noticed a recurring theme among engineering
graduates – a sense of being unprepared for the realities of the workplace.
This observation led to the creation of a platform that offers industrial
training programs, live virtual labs, and innovative software simulations, all
designed to give students a taste of real-world engineering challenges.
What sets My Equation apart is its approach to
learning. Instead of relying solely on textbooks and lectures, the platform
brings the workshop and laboratory right to the students’ screens. “We believe
in learning by doing,” explains Pranav Chachra, the Chief Marketing Officer.
“We have virtual labs that allow students to experiment, make mistakes, and
learn in a safe environment.”
The company’s vibrant and young mentor pool is
another unique feature. These mentors, often recent graduates themselves, bring
fresh perspectives and relatable experiences to the table. “We have mentors who
speak the language of today’s students,” Kaustuv Mohanty, the Chief Operating
Officer, adds. “They understand the challenges and can offer practical,
up-to-date advice.”
Has My Equation Been Helpful For Engineering?
My Equation’s impact on engineering education
in India has already been felt. The platform makes quality, practical education
available to a diverse variety of students at a reasonable cost. This
affordability, combined with a focus on core engineering topics, is helping to
open up access to industry-relevant skills.
“We invest our time in providing a complete
learning ecosystem,” adds a spokesperson of My Equation. “Starting from live
doubt sessions to career guidance and internship opportunities, we’re with our
students every step of the way.”
The startup’s creative approach has not gone
unnoticed. It has received several awards, including the GUSEC Atal Innovation
of the Year Award and a place in the NVIDIA Inception Program.
“We’re preparing students for careers,” Ratik
says. That’s the real equation we’re solving.”
My Equation is a go-to choice for engineers
seeking to acquire industrial skills. Plus, this Ahmedabad SkillTech startup is
always coming up with new ideas and ways to improve what it offers. Future
plans include building offline training sites to reach more students and
provide a wider choice of learning experiences.
